Data…Information…Knowledge…Wisdom!
T S Elliot’s ‘The Rock’ is a dramatic poem which talks about spirituality, faith and the challenges faced by modern civilisation.
In his poem he asks :
Where is the wisdom we have lost in knowledge?
Where is the knowledge we have lost in information?
I would extend this thought :
And, where is the information ?
We have lost it in data.
We know- When data is processed, it becomes information. When information is further processed it becomes knowledge. When knowledge is applied in judicial manner to solve problems and make human life comfortable…it is wisdom.
When the data exists in heaps of piles, and if it is biased or corrupted, would you be really able to transform it into information?
