 Grey Hair, Golden Journey !

There’s a quiet joy in witnessing the birth of a place—and a deeper satisfaction in watching it flourish. I’ve always found myself drawn to new beginnings: the inauguration of a mall, the launch of a metro line, the maiden flight of a regional airline. These aren’t just events to me; they’re milestones in a living story, and I feel privileged to be part of them.

Years ago, I stood at the inauguration of 'Westend Mall' in Aundh, Pune, and more recently, at the opening of  'Phoenix Mall of the Milennium' in Wakad. I wrote Google reviews, shared photos, and watched these spaces evolve into vibrant hubs of community life. Today, they feel like second homes. I often take Madhura there. She has grown up exploring these places with wide-eyed wonder. I still remember when she wasn’t even a year old, yet she walked all six floors of Westend Mall, her tiny feet echoing with joy!

When 'Fly91' launched its Jalgaon–Pune flight, I was among the first to book a ticket. I traveled, documented the experience, and wrote a blog. Similarly, when Pune Metro’s first phase was completed, I journeyed from Jagatguru Sant Tukaram Station to Fugewadi, marveling at the engineering feat, especially the Diamond Cutters used for tunneling. I penned my reflections, blending technical insights with the thrill of progress.

Now, with the Vande Bharat Express connecting Ajani (Nagpur) to Pune, I’m preparing for another journey. In a week, I’ll board the train from Jalgaon, eager to experience this new chapter in connectivity.

Innovation doesn’t only live in infrastructure, it thrives in small ventures too. When a young IT engineer in Pune launched 'Kannu Ki Chai', I visited the outlet near my home in Pimple Saudagar, Pune. I still go there often, sipping tea and chatting with bright minds who carry the spark of creativity.

My love for Mumbai runs deep. When the 'Bandra–Worli Sea Link' opened, I took a taxi from Bandra just to experience the drive. The view of the Arabian Sea was breathtaking!  I’ve captured essence of Arebian Sea in my book.

What makes these experiences richer is the human connection. As an engineer with an MBA in finance; and yes, my grey hair, I find it easy to engage with the people behind these projects. Over a cup of tea, they share stories of challenges and triumphs. There’s a quiet respect, a recognition of shared curiosity and lived wisdom. Occasionally, family insists I color my hair, but I prefer the silver strands; they’re my badge of experience, and they open doors to conversations that matter.

There’s more to share, more places to explore, and more stories to tell. This journey of discovery, dialogue, and delight is far from over!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

अभियंता भवन!

 अभियंता भवन!

आज, जळगांव जिल्हा शासकीय अभियंता सहकारी पतपेढीच्या, ‘अभियंता भवन’ या नवीन वास्तूला, माझ्या पत्नी इंजि. सौ. लता इंगळे यांच्या सोबतीने भेट देण्याचा योग आला. 

वास्तूत प्रवेश करताच, आम्हा सर्वांचे प्रेरणादायी व्यक्तिमत्व, महान अभियंता भारतरत्न सर मोक्षगुंडम विश्वेश्वरैय्या यांचा, नाजूक कलाकृतीच्या पेडस्टल वरील सुंदर अर्धाकृती पुतळा, त्यामागील धरणाच्या प्रतिकृतीतून बाहेर पडून वाहत येणारा जलप्रवाह व त्यातील नयनरम्य रोषणाई बघून मन प्रसन्न झाले. 

यानिमित्त येथील वाचन कट्टा, वाचनालय, विविध कक्ष, थोर विभूतींच्या प्रतिमा, जळगांव जिल्ह्यातील जलसंधारण विभागांतर्गत असलेल्या विविध प्रकल्पांच्या, धार्मिक स्थळांच्या तसेच महाराष्ट्रातील पर्यटन दृष्ट्या महत्वाच्या असलेल्या स्थळांच्या डिजिटल स्वरूपातील आकर्षक चित्राकृती बघून आनंद झाला. 

आमचे मित्र, निवृत्त अभियंता आणि संस्थापक चेअरमन इंजि. साहेबराव पाटील यांच्या कल्पकतेतून आणि अथक परिश्रमातून हा प्रकल्प साकार झाला आहे. येथे वाचन दिन, अभियंता दिन, जल संधारण विषयावर चर्चा, विविध प्रकारच्या औपचारिक आणि अनौपचारिक कार्यक्रमांचे आयोजन केले जाते.

यानिमित्त, पतपेढी द्वारा संचालित वाचनालयाला ‘अभियांत्रिकी स्पंदने’ हे पुस्तक मी भेट दिले. 

पतपेढी द्वारा दर वर्षी, महान अभियंता भारतरत्न विश्वेश्वरैय्या यांच्या जयंती निमित्त, १५ सप्टेंबर रोजी अभियंता दिन साजरा केला जातो. यात समजोपयोगी कार्य करणाऱ्या व्यक्ती, आदर्श अधिकारी, सभासदांचे गुणवंत पाल्य यांचा गुणगौरव केला जातो. त्याबद्दल पतपेढीच्या पदाधिकाऱ्यांचे मनःपूर्वक कौतुक आणि त्यांच्या उपक्रमांना हार्दिक शुभेच्छा!

विडंबनात्मक लेखन हा वाचकांपर्यंत पोहचण्याचा एक प्रभावी मार्ग आहे. कारण हे लेखन वाचकाला अंतर्मुख करते. विडंबनाच्या माध्यमातून मानवी स्वभावावर आणि व्यवहारावर सूक्ष्म भाष्य करता येते. यात लेखक स्पष्टपणे अर्थ सांगत नाही, तर वाचकांच्या संवेदनशीलतेवर तो अर्थ शोधण्याची जबाबदारी सोपवतो.

गोम ही एक सर्पिणी कृमी! तिच्या शरीराचे अनेक खंड, प्रत्येक खंडावर दोन पाय ! चाळीस पेक्षा अधिक पाय असलेली गोम, पायांचा विशिष्ट पद्धतीने उपयोग करून, शरीर मागे पुढे करीत ती अतिशय लयबद्ध पद्धतीने आणि वेगात चालते. तिच्या चालीत एक सहजता, एक गती, एक सौंदर्य असते!

ती चालत असतांना एका ‘तत्त्वज्ञाने’ तिला थांबवून प्रश्न विचारला, ‘तू चालायला सुरवात करताना कोणता पाय पहिल्यांदा उचलतेस ?’

या तत्त्वज्ञाने कृष्णद्वीपातून व्यवस्थापन शास्त्राचे प्रशिक्षण घेतले होते. त्याच्या मनात संशोधन सुरू असते, ‘गोम मधे इतकी ऊर्जा कुठून येते?’ , ‘ तिने पायांचा कार्यक्षम वापर केल्यास तिचा वेग वाढू शकेल काय?’  या विषयी सखोल अभ्यास करण्याकरिता त्याने प्रश्न विचारला होता.

गोम थांबली. ती गोंधळली. यापूर्वी, तिने याबाबत कधी विचार केला नव्हता. ती विचार करू लागली. पण तिला या बाबत काही एक सुचत नव्हते. कधी डावा, कधी उजवा, मागचा आणि पुढचा पाय उचलून बघून ती प्रात्यक्षिक करून पाहू लागली. या प्रक्रियेत, ती जागच्या जागी उलट सुलट होत होती. वर जात होती, खाली पडत होती. तिच्या आजू बाजूला अनेक कृमी, किटक जमले आणि तिची गंमत बघू लागले. यातील काही तिचे भक्ष्य होते. 

गोम प्रश्नाचे उत्तर देण्याच्या स्थितीत नाही हे पाहून तत्वज्ञ शांतपणे निघून गेला!

Autobiography या ब्लॉगमुळे प्रभावित होऊन तू मला पुस्तक लिहण्याविषयी मार्गदर्शन मागितले हे फार बरे केले! तुला वैक्तिक मार्गदर्शन, खरे तर अनुभव कथन केलेलेच आहे. त्यात थोडा बदल करून, आणखी काही जणांना ते उपयुक्त ठरू शकेल आणि माझ्या लेखन प्रक्रियेविषयी माहितीही कळेल म्हणून हा ब्लॉग लिहीत आहे.

काही दिवसांपूर्वी, ‘Write Autobiography!’ ही पोस्ट मी FB वर लिहली. अनेकांना ती आवडली. त्यावर त्यांनी भरभरून प्रतिक्रिया दिल्या. इंग्रजीत लिहिलेल्या पोस्टलाही एव्हढा प्रतिसाद मिळतो हे बघून माझा उत्साह निश्चितपणे वाढला. मग मी ती पोस्ट ‘Medium’ करिता लिहली. या प्लेटफॉर्मवर लिहतांना, काही औपचारिकता पाळून, मोजक्या शब्दात प्रभावी पणे कसे लिहता येईल याचा विचार करून, त्या अनुषंगाने लिखाणात बदल करावा लागतो. त्या नुसार बदल करून मी ‘Why Every Great Person Must Write His Autobiography’ या शीर्षकाचा ब्लॉग लिहला.

Medium वर नवोदित लेखकांपासून ते Strategy Advisor Roger Martin, Best Selling Author Jon Krakauer, 44th President of US Barack Obama यांच्या सारखे मान्यवर लिहतात.

मागच्या आठवड्यात, Medium कडून, माझ्या सर्व पोस्ट पैकी ही सर्वात जास्त पाहिली गेलेली पोस्ट म्हणून अभिनंदनपर संदेश आला. तो मी आपल्या सोबत शेयर केला. फेसबुकवरून, असे अभिनंदनपर संदेश नेहमी येत असतात. ते स्वतःहून माझ्या पोस्ट Recommond करत असते.

आज तर या पोस्ट मधील, ‘Share your story when the time is right, and when the people are ready to listen!’ हा quote वापरून त्यावर मी रील बनविला. तो ही अनेकांना आनंद देत आहे.

लेखनाचे विविध प्रकार आहेत. पण मी या ब्लॉग मधून, आत्मचरित्रात्मक पुस्तक लिहण्याबद्दल लिहले आहे. पण ते इतर लेखनालाही काही प्रमाणात लागू होऊ शकते.  

प्रिय मित्रा, 

तू पुस्तक लिह. जरूर लिह. पण काही गोष्टींकडे लक्ष असू दे. फक्त लक्ष असू दे. त्यामुळे विचलित होऊ नकोस.

तु Whatsapp वर लिहतोस. वेग वेगळ्या ग्रुपवरील मित्रमंडळी ते वाचतात. त्यावर 👍आणि 👌 असे करतात. सावधान! येथेच सावधान होण्याची वेळ आहे. ती तु साध. पुस्तक लिहल्यावर ते वाचतीलच याची खात्री देता येणार नाही. तुझ्याकडे असलेल्या व्यवहारिक शहाणपणाचा येथे वापर कर आणि पुस्तक लिही.

व्यक्ती तेवढ्या प्रकृती असे आपण म्हणतो. पण प्रामुख्याने जगात दोन प्रकारची माणसे आहेत. शहाणे आणि वेडे! तसे ते नसते तर जग नीरस झाले असते. संपूर्ण विश्व हे विरोधभासाने भरले आहे. स्त्री-पुरुष, रात्र-दिवस, सुख-दुःख, काळा-गोरा, चांगला- वाईट तसेच शहाणे आणि वेडे ! कोणाच्या पंक्तीला बसायचे ते तू ठरव, कारण या प्रक्रियेत तुला अनेक व्यवहार्य सल्ले मिळतील. 

लिहणे महत्त्वाचे. किती जण वाचतात ते गौण आहे. लिहणे तुझी मानसिक गरज असू शकते. पूर्वी व्हॉट्सअप नव्हते तेव्हा तु ४० पानी वहीत लिहायचा. एखाद दुसरा लेख किंवा अभिप्राय वृत्त पत्रात छापून यायचा. आता ते ही सोपे राहिले नाही. प्रासंगिक लिहण्या करिता सध्यातरी WA आणि FB शिवाय पर्याय नाही. तुला फार लिहतो म्हणून ग्रुप वरुन काढून टाकल्यास पुन्हा एकदा नोटबुक आणि पेनला शरण जा! पण लिहीत राहा.

लेखन हे अभिव्यक्त होण्याचे एक साधन आहे. त्याच्यामुळे सर्जनशीलता वाढते. म्हणून तू लिहीत रहा. FB ला शरण जा. सावधानता बाळगून, Friends आणि Followers च्या जाळ्यात न अडकता तेथे भरभरून लिह, म्हणजे टाईप कर. मग तेथेही लोक तुला सांगतील. तुला दैवी देणगी लाभली आहे. तुझ्यावर सरस्वतीची कृपा आहे वगैरे. काही जण ‘I am proud of you’ असे लिहून तुझे कौतुक करतील. तुला GIF पाठवतील. यातील मनापासून किती आहेत हे जाणण्याचा प्रयत्न कर. ‘Who You Are?’ हा माझा ब्लॉग वाचल्यावर ते समजण्यास तुला मदत होऊ शकते. तू उद्यपित होऊ नकोस. विचलित होऊ नकोस. मध्यात राहा. सावधान!

पुस्तक लिहिणे आणि प्रकाशित करणे आता फार सोपे झाले आहे. Amazon KDP आणि Pothi.com या सारख्या प्लॅटफॉर्म्सवर एक रुपयाही खर्च न करता, ७२ तासात तुझे पुस्तक प्रकाशित होऊ शकते आणि जगभरात ते कुठेही वाचले जाऊ शकते. POD म्हणजे प्रिंट ऑन डिमांड या पद्धतीची निवड करून, वाचकांना विकत घेण्याकरिता link उपलब्ध करून दिल्यास, पाणी पावसाचा, ट्रॅफिक, पार्किंग असा कुठलाही त्रास न होता, १ ते १००० प्रती तिसऱ्या दिवशी घरपोहच मिळू शकतात. यात काही अडचण आल्यास मी आहेच. लिहणे, शीर्षक, प्रूफ रीडिंग, कवर डिझाईन- फ्रंट, बॅक, स्पाइन-, बुक साईज, फॉरमॅटिंग, पेपर टाइप, स्केचेस, एडव्हर्रटाइजमेंट, मार्केटिंग, SEO, Website Design, पॉडकास्ट याचा माझ्याइतका क्वचितच एखाद्या लेखकाला अनुभव असेल! तेव्हा तू पुस्तक लिहायला सुरवात कर. 

खरे तर असा सल्ला देणे हा वेडेपणाच आहे. शहाण्याने हे करू नये. पण केवळ मित्रप्रेमामुळे मी ते केले हे एक कारण. आणि दुसरे…

ज्यांना सत्य समजले आहे ते बोलत नाहीत आणि लिहित नाहीत. मला ते अद्याप समजले नसल्याने, ते समजेपर्यंत मी बोलणार आहे आणि लिहणार आहें. या प्रक्रियेतून त्याच्या अधिक जवळ मी जाऊ शकेल असा माझा विश्वास आहे!

Who You Are ?

Who You Are ?

While walking the track this morning, a quiet phrase surfaced in my mind - ‘Carried Away.’ It felt like a nudge from within, prompting me to write this blog. As I often say in my poem: ‘Let Not The Eyes Become Old!’
Even today, my eyes,  still curious and searching, look at the world not as an observer, but as a writer, trying to sense the moments.

Since my student life, I’ve had the privilege of closely witnessing and sometimes actively arranging events that brought great personalities into view. Many of these memories live in the pages of my book. And now, as I shape another book, I continue to meet and reflect upon such inspiring individuals.

What strikes me today is the quiet paradox: When greatness walks too close, many fail to recognize it !

In life, proximity can blur perception. A person might be wise, kind, or deeply inspiring, but if he is always around us, we begin to take him for granted.
We silently think, "How can he be great? He is so close to me."
The aura fades not because the person has diminished, but because our gaze becomes routine.

We often seek awe in distant lands, grand stages, or curated personas. Yet the wisdom we truly need might be sitting beside us, silent, steady, and consistent.

In today’s age of amplified impressions, we are constantly bombarded with content; celebrity voices, grand lectures and preachings, theatrical presentations, and glittering media events. It’s easy to be ‘carried away’.

But I offer a gentle caution:

Before accepting any transformative thought, ask:

• Who is the speaker behind the podium, and the author who penned the book?
• What values does he or she truly live by?
• Is the message consistent with the messenger's character?

Don’t get carried away by:

• Multimedia slides or PowerPoint charm
• Grand event arrangements or celebrity appearances
• Polished advertisements or enthusiastic reporting

Check authenticity. Truth lives in consistency and silent depth, not in theatrical display.

Some days ago, I shared a reflection on social media; a thought that continues to echo through this blog:

“Where is the wisdom we have lost in knowledge? Where is the knowledge we have lost in information?” — T.S. Eliot
And I extended it:
“Where is the information we have lost in data?”

This journey from data to wisdom is sacred. Data, when processed, becomes information. Information refined becomes knowledge. Knowledge judiciously applied is wisdom.

But biased or corrupted data cannot become wisdom. It fails the journey.
That’s why, when reading a book or listening to a speaker; especially one aiming to transform—you must examine not just the message, but the messenger.

The path to a meaningful life doesn’t lie in following the loudest voice; it lies in discovering the truest one. And often, that voice isn’t far from us. It may reside in someone we meet daily, whose values are lived, not performed.

Don't lose focus. As you ask yourself, “Who Am I?”, take a moment to turn your gaze toward the one standing behind the podium; and the author of transformation, the narrator of change. Ask him, “Who You Are ?” True insight unfolds only when both voices are questioned with equal sincerity!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Service, Not Demonstration !

Power, at its core, is not mere possession; it is a vital potential. It stands as one of the key psychological needs embedded in human nature: the instinct to acquire, retain, and demonstrate control. When used wisely, it fuels change, enables progress, and gives momentum to noble intentions. Without power, even the most compassionate ideas may remain dormant. It is essential for implementing welfare programs, solving societal problems, and reshaping communities for the better.

Yet, power is never solitary. It is acquired through engagement, through politics that influence people.  And at the heart of that influence lies authentic leadership. I’ve come to express this interconnection through a guiding quote:

‘To implement any welfare program or bring change in a social or political organisation, power is required. Power is acquired by doing politics. Politics is done by influencing people. People are influenced by leaders who understand their psychology and promise the fulfillment of their needs.’

This insight grew out of a rich journey spanning decades of reflection, education, and experience. Over twenty years ago, I had the privilege of coordinating a statewide training program on ‘Institutional Management’ for engineering educators in Maharashtra. Among its sessions, one of mine; 'Power, Politics, and Influence’, proved unforgettable. Drawing from my family background, and having passion for leadership, I delivered this session with thoughtfulness, real-life anecdotes, and just the right touch of humour. Even today, many participants recall it with fondness. And for me, it remains a milestone!

This foundation helped me further articulate leadership as a moral and practical force. I often say:

‘A leader is a person who shoulders responsibility, who is sensitive to the environment, and puts earnest efforts to solve problems.’

Leadership, in this sense, is a form of service. But through this journey, one cautionary truth has always stood clear: Power demands demonstration. Many who possess power feel compelled to assert it—sometimes coercively—to prove their strength. In doing so, they may invite their own undoing. Power, when stripped of purpose, becomes perilous. Power, when wielded without wisdom, can corrode the soul of leadership.

Yet human nature holds another deeper need; ‘Self-Actualisation.’  This is the pursuit of inner fulfilment.  When this need is genuinely met, it tends to quieten the craving for power and its outward display. Even when entrusted with great authority, such individuals choose service over dominance. They use power not to impress, but to uplift.

In recent years, as my reflections evolved into blogs and a book I authored; I embraced creativity in newer forms; transforming quotes and thoughts into short social media reels. With visuals, music, and emotional storytelling, these reached younger audiences and sparked fresh engagement. The process itself was exhilarating; teaching me new tools, inviting new voices, and awakening the spirit of innovation I always sought to nurture in my students.

Throughout my journey as an educator, I have always encouraged learners to be imaginative, expressive, and rooted in purpose. Today, I live that philosophy anew; infusing wisdom with creativity, and creativity with compassion.

Because in the end, power is not for display. It is for direction. And leadership, at its best, is a luminous act of service !

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Write your autobiography, if you truly believe you are a great man

I promise myself each morning: “Today, I’ll read my favourite books. No blogging!”

But as I walk on the track,  in the morning sunshine, new thoughts pop into my mind.  My inner voice persuades me to write. That silent commitment is postponed to tomorrow.

Why does this happen? Maybe because I sleep listening to Carl Jung, Paramhansa Yogananda, Osho, G. A. Kulkarni. Their words don’t just speak to me, they awaken me.

Today’s idea was profound:
“Write your autobiography, if you truly believe you are a great man.”

It struck me deeply. We often hesitate to speak about ourselves. Why? We fear being judged as boastful or ego-driven. But expressing oneself is a human need, unless you've reached that rare state of  'Self-actualisation' where silence alone feels complete.

So I say:
Don’t suppress your truth. Share your story, when the time is right and when people are ready to listen. And if you write with honesty, you’ll find immense joy. Writing is not just about sharing. It’s about liberating the soul.

You’ve served with commitment. You’ve walked the hard path. Now that you have achieved most of the goals, walk the bright one, guided by your soul. And once you begin, you’ll realize you’re not alone. There are many, walking on this path. Share with them. Celebrate with them.

I haven’t written an autobiography yet, but perhaps, I’ve begun with something Autobiography-like!

So here are the words that spring from the soul, and flow like waterfall!

Let us dance in that eternal energy!
